Beachbody's success story winners offer motivation

Beachbody, best known for its fitness video programs like P90X, Hip Hop Abs, Turbo Jam and Project You, likes to celebrate its members' success stories by giving them the chance to win gobs of money every year.

This year's winners, Dallas Carter from Hawaii and Kristy McLean (appropriate last name!) from California, won $250,000 apiece. But their stories are worth millions to anyone who hopes to one day get in the great shape that they're now in.

Carter, 26, (at right) lost 190 pounds, going from 355 to 165 pounds. And McLean, 34, lost 90 pounds, going from 235 to 145 pounds.

We'll focus on McLean because, frankly, I need the motivation.

“At one time, I felt like I was born to be fat," said McLean (above). "Like many women, I did a lot of yo-yo dieting. After I had my first baby, I was in a size 20. Now, after Turbo Jam, I feel so good and strong and if I can do it, anyone can. I feel so confident and inspired, I’ve become an exercise instructor myself."

How'd she do it? The mother of two did Turbo Jam videos in her garage six days a week. She loved the workout so much that she became a fitness instructor. The closer she got to goal, she ramped up her workouts with ChaLean Extreme, another workout from Chalene Johnson that uses more weight training. And while she worked out with ChaLean Extreme, her eating plan was not extreme. As she says on her Team Beachbody page:

I am balanced in my eating - meaning I have learned how to balance "fun" eating and drinking with healthy food choices, exercise, and the right supplements – and I make health and happiness a top priority in my life.

Go figure -- a balanced diet and exercise wins again!

Wow I would like to have a nice body. I'm not the skinniest crayon in the box, but I'm also not the fattest. But I would still like to shed some good pounds and as it seems, it looks like this really works!! Congratulations.

I just got p90x my husband and I are going to do it together, but he is VERY lean and I am well... lets just say I have a tire around my waste that will not go away. I am confused with the whole supplement thing. should I get some supplements as well?
