If you are a follower of and/or participate in any of the sports named on the sign at the entrance to York's museum, you would enjoy taking a tour. In addition to all kinds of pictures of greats in all of the above genres, there are also books,magazines,trophies,awards and equipment from bygone days up through the present time.
There are barbells and dumbbells that were used by such strength heroes as Eugene Sandow, Louis Cyr and Sig Klein,among others. There are awards and trophies that were won by Bob Hoffman and some of his early Olympic teams. There are books and magazines going back as far as the turn of the century. See bodybuilding greats such as Steve Reeves,John Grimek, Bill Pearl and Arnold, just to name a few. Olympic icons Paul Anderson, Tommy Kono, Norb Schemansky and a host of others have their special corners in the hall, in addition to strongmen from Sandow to Kazmeir.
You are almost sure to find your personal favorite powerlifter, bodybuilder, Olympic weight lifter,old time strongman or other strength great, along with pictures of their exploits or equipment that they used or books that they authored. The York retail outlet is housed in the same building and has all the standard lifting equipment you might expect, along with a few items that might surprise you. They also have a nice selection of t-shirts,sweatshirts and related apparel. Located in York,Pa, it is not a great distance from anyone in the greater Allentown area, and worth the trip. Lifting and strongman contests are held there, so perhaps you could take in one of these and tour the Hall of Fame on the same day, making for a full and very enjoyable day.
