55 sets of keys were stolen from the Woodbury Country Club in Woodbury, N.Y. during a wedding this past Saturday, August 28. The thief jumped from a car driving through the country club, and quickly swiped the entire box of valet car keys before anyone could stop him. As a result, nearly 200 wedding guests were left stranded after the reception.
Elite Valet of Floral Park helped foot the bill for all the stranded guests to get either cab rides home, or a room at a local hotel for out of town guests. They will also pay to replace the lost keys.
The groom, and many of the guests, were Suffolk County police officers, but right now there is no evidence to support whether this had anything to do with the incident. Still, Steve Squitero, General Manager of the Country Club, does believe that this "...was a malicious act, by someone who knew what they were doing and what problems it would cause."
