For a first time bride, staring at a wedding planning checklist often feels like staring down the barrel of a gun! Even brides taking their 2nd or 3rd trip down the aisle are often overwhelmed. Choosing the right wedding vendor to suit ones style and needs is hard enough. Knowing what to ask in order to gauge whether or not there is a fit is even more difficult! Over the next few days, I will be sharing some key questions to ask while searching for ideal wedding vendors. Let's start with the Ceremony Site!
How many events will they host per time slot and per day? For large venues like chain hotels, this won't pose a problem. However, smaller venues hosting multiple events at the same time might present logistical issues - not enough parking, lowered customer service standards due to being understaffed, and the list goes on. Also, if Mother Nature has an attitude the day of the wedding, the ceremony will need to take place indoors. If the venue cannot accommodate this scenario because every room is occupied, this should be known before making a decision.
Will they waive or decrease the ceremony site fee if the reception is also held there?
What exactly does their setup/site fee include? Chair setup is typical, but if you're putting programs on every seat, using a chuppah, displaying an elaborate setup at the altar for sand, wine or candle lighting customs, or require rose petals to be cleaned up afterward, those services might not be included. Without a wedding coordinator, someone will need to complete these tasks so make sure you ask!
Will they be under construction anywhere on site at the time of the wedding?
Is amplified music allowed for outdoor ceremonies?
How long before the ceremony start time is setup allowed to begin? This goes back to how many events will be hosted per day. If afternoon weddings end at 4PM and the evening ceremony begins at 6PM, setup probably won't be allowed until 4:30PM. This will pose a problem for DIY brides. This might also pose a slight problem for couples with an elaborate ceremony setup.
Interview questions for ceremony sites are endless. These are simply a few to get the ball rolling!
