On any given weekend, the long lines up Los Feliz Blvd. and on the freeway exits leading to Griffith Park give testament to the popularity of one of our nation’s largest patches of urban green. Over 4,200 acres house everything from a zoo and museum to hiking and equestrian trails. Despite its many provisions, Griffith Park can still provide a quiet, rustic setting perfect for a wedding.
Of the park’s three facilities available for private events, the Griffith Park Visitor’s Center Auditorium is the smallest and most overlooked venue.
Managed by the Department of Parks and Recreations, it’s large enough to accommodate up to 99 people, yet small enough to be intimate. Adjacent to the park’s actual Visitor’s Center, the Auditorium is divided into three distinct sections; a side patio with concrete benches, a garden area framed by oak trees and native plants, and the auditorium itself, which has two restrooms, and is climate controlled.
This varied layout offers brides and grooms a wonderful opportunity to seamlessly move their wedding party from one area to another throughout the wedding day. A romantic outdoor ceremony among the oaks can be followed by a dramatically lit indoor reception by taking just a few steps. Guests can roam between the areas, which are beautifully landscaped. This will be especially appreciated by smokers who are normally forced to get their nicotine fix in banquet hall parking lots. The Department of Parks and Recreations provide an event monitor and security staff to keep any party crashers away and to temper any overly enthusiastic revelers. There is ample free parking, and limited wheelchair access.
With so many perfect spots for memorable photos, beginning with the Mulholland Fountain, located near the south entrance to the park, to the wide patches of grass graced by elegant sycamores, to the ever impressive Observatory, it’s easy for the wedding party to get distracted and abandon their guest for hours in their quest for the perfect shot.
The scenic spots surrounded by sage and manzanita trees can wait, as they have for over 100 years. Guests, on the other hand, must leave by 10:00 pm.

Thanks for the recommendation, I really liked how extensively you covered that venue.
Smoking is strictly prohibited anywhere in the Park. Signs are posted at nearly all entrances/exits of the park.
