Perhaps one of the most important compilation of pieces of paper you will ever buy, the search for perfect wedding invitation can be difficult and overwhelming, especially if you are right in the middle of your search. Before you even start looking, you need to know what the theme and colors of your wedding will be since they need to be incorporated into your invitations. Casual outdoor wedding? Elegant and formal occasion? It will make a difference in what you choose. Personally I wanted to choose an invitation I saw that had a bird groom and bird bride on the front, both in wedding attire. Though this worked perfectly with my personality, it just did not say elegant Williamsburg wedding.
First I would suggest starting your search online although it will not end there. Not only will most websites let you experiment with different fonts and colors on different styles, but you can usually get a concrete price. If you go into your first invitation location with no idea what you’re looking for, it is most likely you will be completely overwhelmed as you scan through the pages and try to remember which ones you liked and which ones you have already seen. Granted, the first couple books of invitations you look through will be a blast. Then you will get a little confused, then scared, and then you will give up. So go online and take a lot of notes, bookmark things, and print pictures out. Now when you go to your consultation, you will be better prepared. It’s a lot like picking out your dress – you should have an idea of what you’re looking for and don’t pick the first invitation you see.
The next step is just as important as your online research. Actually going in person to view invitations will not only be fun but you can talk to actual people. Thankfully, they are professionals and know what they’re doing. In Lynchburg, there are two particular places I would recommend for creative invitations and great customer service. The Farm Basket has some of the most creative and unique wedding invitations out there. But this creativeness will cost you. Some of their invitations run about $600 for 25, not including the extras such as the inner envelope, response card, and other such necessities that you will need. This is important to ask about when you embark on your quest. Most places will give you a quote that only includes the actual paper invitation, not mentioning they charge extra for printing the return address, for ink, and even more for colored ink. These kinds of details are important, as you will need ink on your invitations. The Farm Basket is definitely worth checking out and don’t let the price deter you. They deliver with one on one attention and excellent quality.
Not to be outdone, All Wedding Essentials has you covered for every possible paper need you have on your wedding day. They have an amazing selection and many different possibilities. No matter what your taste is, you are bound to find something you love here. While at this location, they brought up another good tidbit: ask what kind of paper your invitation will be printed on. A more sturdy paper will probably cost you more, but it’s worth it. The last thing you want is someone pulling out a flimsy piece of paper with your invitation printed on it. Remember to ask tons of questions to the point of being obnoxious. Good luck brides!
