Spotlight on: My Wedding Workbook

My Wedding Workbook is being called the next-generation online wedding planner.  More than 7,000 brides have chosen the site as their wedding planning partner - and only mere months after the company's public launch.

The story behind My Wedding Workbook is a short but very sweet one. Several years back, Steven Feingertz, one of the site's owners, asked his then-girlfriend Tammy for her hand in marriage. Tammy, being a detail freak, began scouring the Internet for online tools and paper binders that would help her stay organized but couldn't find anything that was comprehensive enough. So she asked Steven, a marketing and Web professional, to build a piece of software for her.

After some minor grumbling, Steven built a planning site for her as an engagement present, and via the site Tammy planned a wonderful destination wedding in St. John in the Caribbean, where they were married in 2004. Then the site sat on a shelf until a few months ago, when Steven and his business partner Jeff Kear decided to build it out and, in the spirit in which it was originally created, give it as a free gift to engaged brides and grooms.

My Wedding Workbook isn't your ordinary online collection of free wedding planning tools. Unlike first-generation tools like those offered on The Knot, Wedding Wire and EZ Wedding Planner - most of which are stand-alone worksheets, calculators and address books that focus just on the ceremony and reception - My Wedding Workbook streamlines the planning process for brides by:

? Completely integrating all tools - The budget manager talks to the guest list manager which talks to the event manager which talks to the task calendar ... this way brides never have to double enter details. For example, when you enter in budget and payment due details for your wedding dress in the budget area, those details also show up in the wedding attire area as well as on your task calendar.

? Covering every wedding-related event - The online planner lets couples manage details for their engagement and engagement party, bridal shower, bachelor and bachelorette parties, rehearsal and rehearsal dinner, ceremony, reception, post-wedding activities and honeymoon.

? Including every possible wedding-related item - From the engagement announcement calligrapher to the honeymoon hotel rates, there is a place for every possible detail for every wedding-related item.

? Offering a task calendar with email reminders - This displays all important deadlines, due dates and events as well as personal tasks entered by the couple, plus it provides a list of suggested tasks every month that are based on how far out a bride is from her wedding day. And brides can set email alerts to remind them of upcoming appointments and due dates.

? Making it easier to manage guest lists (with special tools for tracking out-of-town guest details), seating arrangements, vendors and much more.

In essence, My Wedding Workbook functions more like comprehensive software, and you can try it out for yourself by simply creating your own account for free, or by viewing a demo account.
