David Letterman affairs become public and criminal

The Web buzz of the day is David Letterman affairs including who Letterman has slept with prior and after his marriage to his wife Regina Lasko (photos). Now an arrest has been made in conjunction with one man’s attempt to blackmail The Late Show host on this very hot topic.David Letterman admits to having affairs, extortion plot revealed

It turns out that  CBS “48 Hours" producer Robert J. Halderman allegedly wanted $2 Million dollars not to disclose David Letterman's affairs – via a screenplay or otherwise. Halderman has pled not guilty to these charges.

For most of the public, the story of David Letterman’s affairs resurfaced on his show last night when the host admitted to an extortion plot targeting the star. (See the AP video for more details on the extortion plot)

Three weeks ago Letterman was “approached by a person who claimed to have information about the host's affairs with female staff members,” according to the LA Times.

Earlier in the day, Letterman had to face a grand jury to proceed with the criminal investigation of the blackmailer.

Letterman confessed to the scariness of testifying to a grand jury about “ all the creepy things I have done,” which many presume includes who David Letterman has had sex with – be they girlfriends, wives or otherwise.

Many fans have seemingly forgiven the adulterous star who was a media and political target this summer over sexual comments involving former Alaskan governor Sarah Palin and her daughters. A mistake that led to a rare public apology by David Letterman to the Palins.

Yet, as was learned during the Clinton years, the truth will set one free. It is no secret that Letterman has had girlfriends and one-night stands, yet the public has a low tolerance for blackmail and witch hunts even when the target is guilty as charged.

How can he be called adulterous? The affairs were before he was married, and he ended them when his son was born and he realized that it was time to grow up!

Reminder to Sandy: One does not have to be married to commit adultery... (cough, cough).
