Even in the once considered indomitable Silicon Valley, the latest job picture isn't peaches and cream. A recent report found that the IT industry is taking hits in this economy with halting salary raises combined with pay and job cuts. If you're anxious about the thought of job searching in this environment, there is one local company that takes advantage of the very tools you undoubtedly use each day to ease your transition to a new position.

RiseSmart, a San Jose outplacement service company, announced the next generation of its acclaimed employee transitioning job placement service today. Transition Concierge 3.0 leverages social media coupled with one-on-one human support to offer job seekers a fresh and successful approach to finding their new employer.

"Companies pay a lot of money to provide outplacement services to employees, but the offerings of traditional providers – such as group counseling and the use of office space – are so outdated that 40 percent of laid-off workers don't bother to show up," says Sanjay Sathe, founder and CEO of the Silicon Valley firm getting a bit of attention thanks to the current employment market and the company's unique approach to job searching.

A far cry from the group counseling methodology, the latest incarnation of RiseSmart's popular tool utilizes aggregation and semantic technologies to precisely match an employee's preferences against the plethora of wanted ad's. With the aid of a specialist assigned to each employee, nearly 300 social networks are used to find and share valuable information. The company touts its use of shared information- from webinars and blogs to pertinent information on companies- as an integral feature to creating communication and insight among job seekers.

While it won't necessarily be able to work magic, this latest weapon to combat unemployment should save you some serious time on two fronts: both sitting infront of your monitor combing through the classifieds and the time you await a job offer. RiseSmart calculates that people who use Transition Concierge 3.0 find jobs 43% faster than the national average.

If your soon to be ex-employer doesn't offer the service in their redundancy package, you can purchase Transition Concierge 3.0 on a monthly basis. The company also has a nifty blog that includes a wealth of information for that inevitably short time that you find yourself between gigs.
