Job searching goes mobile

RiseSmart's Transition Concierge To-Go mobile app

Job-Finding Apps on the Go

Job searching has become the newest craze, albeit a reluctant one. With employers keyed into social networking, it's important to be aware of the 24/7 demand that job seraching often incurs. While you can't always be glued to your pc, there are many nifty mobile app's that bring job searching tools to you wherever you are.

From JobFinder's mobile app to Craigster, you'll find a robust plethora of mobile app's ready to arm you with little details that might just land you that next gig. Some are free to use whereas others come at a price but offer more services.

San Jose's RiseSmart is one job transitioning service that we've looked at before. This morning the company released its mobile app, Transition Concierge To-Go. A unique concoction of social media and job tools, this app leverages aggregate and semantic technologies to precisely match an employee with future employer.

“Traditional outplacement providers still build their offerings around the outdated idea that laid-off employees should come to a physical office to attend seminars and be taught how to find a job,” said Sanjay Sathe, founder and CEO of RiseSmart.  “Transition Concierge takes the opposite approach.  We go where the employees are -- and our new mobile app is a perfect example of this.”

Currently available on Blackberry devices, Transition Concierge To-Go will soon be available on the iPhone and all Android devices, as well, to compete with the growing list of other job search apps. More competition in the emerging arena means greater choice for the unemployed, so be sure to understand which app's will work best for you. Transition Concierge To-Go will give you updated job leads, tags, personalized messages and notifications of upcoming events as well as their signature one-on-one specialist guidance. This comes at a price, however. CareerBuilder.com's app is free to use and quite popular, but won't offer the same personalized guidance.
