A site that fascinates me, Hunch, has been unveiling a slough of changes recently. What is Hunch? According to their site, “How do we personalize the internet? (glad you asked!) It starts by Hunch getting to know you: what do you like; how do you think; who are you? Then, Hunch builds a taste profile mapping your unique tastes & preferences to the people, places and things all around you which you might like. The result is great recommendations that are customized just for you.”

Of late, Hunch has stopped showing results to people who are not signed in, and redesigned its home page to offer personalized taste recommendations across a wide variety of categories.

After all of that, Hunch is currently testing local recommendations on a map with a sidebar showing restaurants, nightlife, hotels, spas, museums, grocery stores and more. A neat feature for anyone looking to discover places in their city that match their personality profile as determined by Hunch, and something one could definitely use in Dallas, or any other city you happen to be in at a particular place and time.

Using their recommendation service, Hunch Local aims to assist you in finding what places/services your friends on Facebook and/or Twitter may like and populates the results at the top of its local search feature.

Users can filter by different types of venues, while also allowing one to use a slider to get more popular or unique results.

By asking users questions, and users providing answers, the results returned with respect to your likes and dislikes are eerily accurate. Moreover, upon answering, you can see how others answered the same question. It is addictive. One can spend hours answering question after question.

Are you a Hunch user? What do you find most interesting about the service and will you use it more now that local features are currently in development?
