H. Michael "Mike" Mogil is a nationally recognized, educationally-focused, meteorologist with expertise in weather forecasting, science writing, teacher training and forensic applications. He is also able to see how weather connects to other aspects of our lives (e.g., the 2010 oil spill in the Gulf, health and safety, social sciences, geography and math). Mike has written as the Fort Myers, FL Weather Examiner since January 2010, publishing, on average, one article every three days. He has also authored and/or contributed to numerous books on extreme weather, general weather and weather experiments. Mike fostered publication of a set of cloud stamps by the U.S. Postal Service (2004), which features one of his cloud photographs. Mike speaks often at national weather, science and education conferences and writes frequently for the national Weatherwise magazine. Mike has earned his M.S. degree in meteorology from Florida State University and the Certified Broadcast and Certified Consulting Meteorology seals from the American Meteorological Society. He worked for the National Weather Service and its parent agency NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) for almost 30 years and has run his own company, How The Weatherworks, since 1979.
