World's #1 golfer injured in accident.
Tiger Woods' official web site has a statement concerning the accident he was involved in early Friday. The statement was released by his office and Health Central Hospital where he was transported. It reads "Tiger Woods was in a minor car accident outside his home last night. We appreciate very much everyone's thoughts and well wishes."
Additionally, we've learned (via Windermere Police Chief Daniel Saylor) his wife, Elin, was first on the scene and used a golf club (an appropriate item) to break out the back window of the locked vehicle. When first responders arrived on the scene, Woods appeared to be dazed, along with in and out of consciousness and was bleeding from the face. He was laying in the street.
According to various news outlets, the #1 golfer in the world, Tiger Woods, was injured in an early morning single-vehicle auto accident near his home in Orlando. According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), Woods pulled out of his driveway, struck a fire hydrant, and a tree. He was taken to the hospital for minor facial injuries, was treated and released. The FHP says charges are 'pending', but didn't go into who, what, where, and when.
Woods, 33, was driving his black Cadillac Escalade when the incident occurred. The FHP stated in their report that 'alcohol was not a factor'. While the accident occurred at 2:25 a.m., the report was not released for some 12 hours. Woods is a resident of Islesworth, an upscale community of homes near Orlando and is set on an Arnold Palmer golf course.
A check of weather conditions at the time of the accident was relatively serene. The temprature was 61° with a north wind at 2 mph.
