Rain moves across Southern MS -Tuesday afternoon
Rain was falling across Southern Mississippi Tuesday afternoon in association with a developing storm system in the Gulf of Mexico.
A low pressure system was strengthening along a stalled front in the Western Gulf of Mexico. This low will move into Southeastern Louisiana and Southeastern Mississippi tonight and will spread heavy rain across this area.
In addition, severe storms and minor coastal flooding are possible across Southeastern Mississippi.
While the severe weather threat is not significant, if a few storms manage to become severe, the main threats will be damaging winds and possible tornadoes overnight.

(Note: A trend mentioned in an earlier article showed that quiet Novembers in terms of severe weather tend to increase during the month of December-at least for Mississippi)

While the exact track of this low is not entirely certain, it is clear, portions of Southern Mississippi will receive the heaviest rainfall with possibly 3-4 inches -as this area will be near the track of the surface low.

Rainfall should taper off during the day on Wednesday before colder air arrives by Thursday and Friday!

The overall pattern will remain very active over the next few weeks with possible wintry weather and severe weather threats. Everyone should stay updated on the latest weather information as it becomes available.
