As a part of Tornado Awareness Month, the Jackson Weather Examiner will review severe storms that affected the state throughout the month of November.
On this date -November 20th:
Several tornadoes were reported over 4 years on this date with 18 people injured. (1950, 1973, 1983, and 1991)
In 1950, a 37 yard wide, F-1 tornado tracked 2 miles across Newton County, injuring 3 people and producing an estimated $25,000 in damage.
In 1991, a 440 yard wide, F-1 tornado tracked 1 mile in Noxubee County, injuring 15 people and producing an estimated $250,000 in damage.
