Record Blue Marlin caught on August 5 2009
Wednesday showed off some of the largest fish this week and in tournament history. It has already been a impressive week with the largest White Marlin caught in 29 years on Tuesday. The warm weather and ocean water must be in primo condition, but that will change today. Storms developed overnight, and will last all day. Check out the Ocean City weather and radar here. As for the fish, an impressive Hammerhead Shark took the top spot for the heaviest fish at 254 lbs. worth $4,500. It was caught by Angler Jamie Gill aboard the Lisa out of Ocean City. But bragging rights were short lived. Soon after, the largest Blue Marlin in Maryland and White Marlin Open history was weighed in. According to the White Marlin Open Blog:
Angler Robert Farris aboard the No Problem set a tournament and a state record with his blue marlin at 1,062 lbs. After fighting the fish for over three hours on 80-lb tackle, the crew brought the fish, currently worth about $555,000, to Harbor Island.
Check out the photos in the slide show below (more pictures arriving soon). The leader board as of 7pm post. It may change overnight, so I will update it in the morning.
