Randy Gettin clears off some seats at Beaver Stadium in State College, Pa. Carolyn Kaster, AP
Record early snowfall added up to between 2 and 9 inches around Happy Valley, but football fans aren't so happy. The heavy snow officially added up to over 4 inches around Penn State's campus, with up to 6 inches on the grass (See more in the slide show below). This fell mostly on October 16th, breaking the record earliest snowfall for Sate College by one day. This eliminated 20,000 parking spots near Beaver Stadium for today's game. Minnesota brought more than their football team to State College, they brought their weather, and ruined homecoming tailgate parties today. The Nitanny Lions are ranked #14, and kickoff is set for 3:30pm, but where do 80,000 fans park?
The University is working with local businesses to arrange for fans to park in paved parking lots and encourages fans to make use of the CATA game-day shuttles in order to reach Beaver Stadium.
"Penn State is working to partner with area businesses to have football patrons park in their lots and be shuttled to Beaver Stadium. Shuttle service to the game will be provided to those parking in the following parking lots: Wal-Mart, Benner Pike; Sam's Club; Chem Cut; Target; Lowe's; Home Depot; the former Corning plant on East College Avenue; and the Big Lots Plaza."
