After a successful mission, the Space Shuttle Atlantis might have problems landing back at the Kennedy Space Center. It's like a pitcher going into the 9th inning with a no hitter and facing the meat of the line-up. You can watch the weather 'line-up' at the bottom of this post.
Florida has been plagued and blessed with heavy drought busting rain this week. That also came with strong gusty winds. This storm is still showing signs of tropical development that I showed in posts earlier this week:
- Thursday morning
- Wednesday morning - just the slide show here

Rain showers are in the forecast for the two potential morning landings at 10am and 11:39am EDT. The forecast gets worse in the afternoon with more thunderstorms possible. Typical Florida stuff in addition to that departing storm. There are other optional landing sites, such as Edwards Air Force Base in California. But that raises the issue of time and a lot of money to transport Atlantis back to Florida.
