The slight change with Hurricane Earl has been a little shift to the west with the forecast track. There is still a wide range of forecasts from the computer models (see the slide show), and a small change can make a large difference. There are a few that place the eye of Earl on or very close to the North Carolina Outer Banks.
A Hurricane Watch means that conditions may develop within 48 hours. Strong tropical storm force winds are guaranteed in the range of 40-60 mph, but conditions may bring a heavy rain band with winds close to 75 mph. The worst conditions will be on Friday morning.
