Today will be another blazing hot day across the Capital Region of Albany and upstate New York, as high pressure remains parked over our region. Sunny skies will dominate our skies, with slightly higher humidity levels the past few days. Temperatures will be in the lower 90's.
Expect much of the same weather for Wednesday and Thursday, with increasing high clouds from Hurricane Earl late on Thursday. Temperatures will still be around 90 both days.
On Friday, a strong cold front will approach from the west and Hurricane Earl will be just off the New England coastline. Showers and thunderstorms will accompany the cold front passage in the evening, as Earl moves out to sea and probably misses the area with any landfall. This will have to be monitored closely.
After the cold front passage, a cool and refreshing fall-like air mass will be ushered into our region on Saturday. The holiday weekend looks pleasant with temperatures in the lower 70's.
Hurricane Earl remains a category 4 storm with winds of 135 mph and a minimum central pressure of 935 millibars. Earl will pass by the Bahamas today and begin to turn more to the northwest, toward the Carolina coastline. A close pass of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina will occur early on Friday, before Earl brushes by the northeast coastline late Friday into Saturday.
