*For the first time since they've been touring, We Are The Fallen has allowed a journalist to travel with them on tour, bringing you exclusive behind the scenes news.
Song writer and guitarist Ben Moody was the second member to sit down for an interview:
What do you think is the biggest difference between We Are The Fallen and Evanescence?
“Carly Smithson, Marty O'Brien, and better music...that's it.
Do we have to talk about We Are The Fallen in some way?”
We can talk about whatever you like whatever you like.
“How about current events or something like that?”
Sure, well we saw an 'impeach Obama' protest today, in front of a gun show in Texas no less....
“Yeah, they'd painted little Hitler mustaches on Obama, it's insane.
I'd really love to explain to them how they are wrong, and how stupid that is; but I don't think they'd be able to understand it.”
Probably not, no. So, what other projects do you have going on?
“Writing as much as I can for other people; I've got this separate tour bus I've been using to have professional song writers come out and work while we're on tour. I was very surprised that I got 5 and ½ songs written while teching for myself, and co-tour managing.”
You guys went out much lighter crew wise, why was that? Trying to keep it humble, and stay closer to your roots?
“That, and it's just economics. We are learning how to travel and tour much leaner this time.”
You've taken up mountain climbing (tapping into your viking heritage); what are some of the peaks you've climbed?
“Yes, mountains are the one place where biologically I make sense; somewhere cold and desolate!
I've climbed 13 and 14s all over the California and Colorado; the Sierra Nevadas and things like that.
So far the only famous mountain I've climbed is Kilimanjaro. I'm working on climbing the 7 Summits, but I keep having to cancel plans over my dislocated shoulder. If my shoulder goes out on me in the wrong place it could get me killed; so, no more climbs till after my surgery in December.
