AARP Health Care Forum
The American public will have to decided for themselves who is telling the truth---President Obama or the spokesman for the AARP.
After Obama said that the AARP had endorsed the Democrats health care reform (ObamaCare), the chief operating officers, Tom Nelson denied it.
Nelson said:
....indications that we (AARP) have endorsed any major health reform bills currently under consideration in Congress are inaccurate.
Which person should the public believe?
As AARP tries to stem the tide of cancelled memberships and insurance politices after it appeared to have endorsed ObamaCare, some believe that President Obama knew what he was talking about. Some of those pesky old senior Watchdogs have been checking into how much AARP executives put into Democrats campaigns.

AARP CEO A. Barry Rand gave the maximum $4,600 to Obama's election campaign and $4,300 to the Obama Victory Fund, a joint fundraising entity of Obama and the Democratic National Committee. According to the Federal Election Commission, since 1995, Rand has given $15,900 to Democratic campaign committees.
Nearly all of Rand's campaign contributions came during the 2007-2008 election council. In addition to the $8,900 he gave to Obama, Rand contributed :
- $4,500 to a leadership PAC maintained by House and Means Committee Chairman Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.)
- $500 to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC).
- $1,000 to the unsuccessful Senate campaign of Rep. Harold Ford (D.-Tenn)
- $1,000 to Presidential Clinton's reelection campaign in 1995.
So who is telling the truth, Obama or the AARP?

... nice quote mining there. Perhas if you were an acutal journalist you might have included the entire quote, and provided a date. Not to mention that the current Bill being discussed is the Senate Bill. A congressional Bill has to be passed by the senate and the House first. So, yes, the quote that you have obviously lifted out of context is truth. Perhaps, in the name of journalistic integrity, you might update this article with the propers citations including the Full context of the quote and the date it was said.
Sources and references are listed at the end of every article. Simply click on the blue https for further information, dates, etc.
It would be a good idea to include the actual article link from the AARP so the public can decide for themselves what is says. You included quotes about the article, but not the article itself. Also, quoting FOX news just turns off 50% of the people immediately. Your 'truth' is not everyone else's reality, i.e. 'Why don't you give a damn that many Oklahoman's can't get health care?'
I have just ended my membership with AARP after almost 20 years. I feel AARP has changed its mission from trying to help its members. I have no idea what its new mission is. I feel betrayed and insulted when their spokespersons to say Obama's AARP endoresment comments were inaccurate but yet all the AARP commercials and Web pages defend the Health Care bill.
mikkyfinn has a real problem with reading comprehension. The links to the sources are included in the article (which is something CNN and MSNBC would never consider on their online pages).
This article is very informative and accurate.
