Obama changes tune to accommodate bad economic news

President Obama appears to be changing the rhetoric from that of early June when he said that he was not satisfied with the pace of the stimulus package that the Democrats pushed through Congress without reading and which was signed by him three days later.

Now Obama says that he always assumed the Recovery Act would take time and that this summer and fall were the key times. He is no longer mentioning his previous goal to "save or create" 3.6 million jobs and or the 8% unemployment figure as economists now predict that figure, already 9.5%, could go as high as 10% to 11%.

Meanwhile, the Washington Times reported how inefficient the Recovery Act is with some states that have low unemployment rates receiving more money per capita than states with poor jobs markets.  It also reported that Obama has had to cancel some projects after some of them were almost ridiculous, nothing more than earmarks for some politician to bring home to his district. (Pelosi's mouse, for example?)

Meanwhile, Republicans are reminding the public about the promises that Obama made, including that jobs would be created immediately instead of the newest Obama predictions that a recovery would start taking place in the second half of the year.

It appears that the Obama mantra of "hope" is beginning to look more like "helpless" as he tries to change the rhetoric of just a month ago.  Meanwhile, no matter how the pro-Obama media tries to cover it up, the American public's disillusionment with Obama and the stimulus show a decline not only in the program but with the man himself.

So now in the second week of July, 2009, Obama is saying that the stimulus is working as intended. What a difference a month makes when reality begins to clash with the previous promises coming out of the White House.

Of course Obama is re-spinning rhetoric on the failed stimulus. His ego is too big to admit is is not working. Why doesn't someone amplify a previous recommendation about the report from the Office of Management and Budget in January. It said the American economy would recover on ts own, as it always has. I put my stimulus check in the bank so I could pay future tax increases, health care for "unentitled" people and energy costs poised to soar. Drill, baby, drill! Where is a new Reagan?
