When Russian Prime Minister Viadimir Putin crossed into Georgia without permission on August 13,2009. it was one more action to test the strength of President Barack Obama. The last time Putin did something like this was when he traveled to South Ossetia, just days after Obama spoke in Moscow.

Obama and Putin
It was reported earlier by ITAR-Tass, the Russian news agency, that Putin would be bolstering defenses and military bases plus building a new naval base in the area. Apparently, the Russian Prime Minister knows he has nothing to fear from the West as the last time he crossed the line and invaded Georgia, consequences were short lived. After a brief period of frozen times, the U.S.,E.U. and NATO all resumed cooperation with the Russians.
Putin continues to violate the European Union-brokered cease fire which required that Russian troops to return to the pre-conflict status quo. Now Russian would have 3,636 soldiers in the area by the end of 2009.

By setting up the new naval base, Russian will have a supply base for its warships, seaborne Spetsnaz and naval infrantry in the Black Sea region. Putin apparently has plans to restore a Soviet-era air base in the area.
Heritage Foundation Scholar Ariel Cohen has said that Russia's ambitions in the area would change the balance of power in the region, probably end Georgian efforts to restore it territorial integrity, and pose a challenge for the Obama administration.
It is not lost on Putin that America is still bogged down in Iraq and Afghanistan. He appears to see Obama as vulnerable as poll numbers show that the U.S. President's constituents are losing faith in his ability to lead the nation. Meanwhile, Barack is distracted by unrest in the U.S. as the Democrats tax and spend programs are being rejected by the electorate as shown by photos of the Town Halls that are broadcast around the world.
One wonders what the outcome will be if Putin decides that having a Cold War with America will be to his benefit. And if the Prime Minister succeeds in showing Obama as a weakling, will it embolden other enemies of the United States?

It is far too late for obama to regain any international respect. After being dressed down by Chavez, bowing to the Saudi king, making no response to the North Korean missle tests, no response to Russia's previous invasion of neighboring countries, telling Mexico their drug problem was the USA's fault then throwing Israel under the bus, is it any wonder? He has demonstrated what many vocalized in the election campaign - he has no concept of foreign relations, military or domestic, and clearly no guts to stand up to lesser leaders when they rattle their sabers. He is a toothless tiger and an embarasssment to the USA. Remember, this is your commander in chief!

You mean the way he succeeded in showing GW Bush was all hat & no cattle?
This is just another unfinished problem Obama inherited from Bush - you know, like being 'still bogged down in Iraq and Afghanistan.'
As usual we have some short sighted people, who can not see the destruction put in place by capitalist cannibals creatures with no morals of the past decades. These very creatures who would sell their own body parts for a profit, mass produce lies about neighboring countries, etc. cause destruction within governments of other counties to make a profit on diamonds, oil, war, and death or anything else, and still have the audacity to claim spirituality. Well, I guess Satan is spiritual, so I guess anyone can claim spirituality. Then when someone tries to do the near impossible and clean things up, that someone get's the blame for everything. Be serious!
