Letterman's joke about Sarah Palin's daughter getting "knocked up" at a ball game exposed him for what he has turned into: a dirty old man who has to use perversion in order to titillate his audience. Now we also have Keith Olbermann, who ratings are sinking like a stone, connecting himself to the gutter remark.
What this says about either man's audience is that along with the two men, is that their taste is somewhere between knees and their waists. Why else would they enjoy seeing a young girl or a woman degraded in this way? It is obvious that there is something sick coming out of New York and Washington and the disease is being spread by men like Letterman and Olbermann.
Fortunately, Sarah Palin has the courage to stand up to these two, used up old pieces of masculinity. They are an embarrassment to other men their age, men who would never call a woman who serves them on airplanes as a "slutty fight attendance." Wouldn't it be funny if one of these "sluts" happened to spill a cup of hot coffee into their laps next time they fly in an airplane.
What is especially sad about this is that women have so lost respect for themselves that they did not protest; the ones in their audiences actually thought it was funny. So the next time they sit at a bar or in a public place, it should not bother them if they are accosted by same types of remarks and use the same language.
But at least Sarah Palin hit back, exposing Letterman for what he has degenerated to--a man who has to get his thrills by sexually degrading a young woman in order to try to be funny because that is all he has on his mind. Palin immediately went for something that is the truth, that he is a dirty old man, a 60 year old making sexual comments about a 14 year old girl.

Letterman hasn't been even remotely successful in late night for years, if the networks weren't run by a bunch of leftist commies, they would have pulled the plug on this washed-up hack years ago. Why wasn't this goon fired??
Letterman has become a sad old shell of his former self. Cheap-shot comments such as this only reveal his hateful nature.

I pity your husband. Poor sap coulda married someone with a healthier sense of sexuality that isn't a man-hater. The sentence:

is very Freudian and very telling of your opinion of that part of the male and of males' use, or possible use of it. Maybe, if your taste had been "between your knees and your waist", you would have had a happier marriage and a joke would not have made you sound so bitter. Before you say, "How dare you", How dare you.

You've never met Letterman, but declare him a pervert from one joke. What makes YOU an expert on pervertion? Why don't you declare Bristol's boyfriend a pervert for having sex with an underage girl? Letterman joked about it, but Bristol's boyfriend did it. Where is your indignation for him? Don't be selectively indignant.
I am a widow who was joyfully married to a fine man for many years who respected his mother, his wife, his daughter, his daughter-in-law and nieces. He, in turn, was respected by them. Men like Letterman who belittled women disgusted him.
He sounds like a good man, but he does not represent the majority of males...nor do "girls gone wild" represent the majority of females. I grew up in a different time (as did you) when A politician parading an unwed pregnant daughter would have been an outrage. We have evolved to understand that these things are human, but we have also evolved to joke about the present human condition. With the acceptance of human "pecadillos", we also accepted jokes about those "pecadillos" as opposed to being indignant about those same "pecadillos". Bristol commited a "pecadillo", otherwise, without it, the joke would have no life.(as judged by the laughter it illicited). A joke about a virgin (at any age) being "knocked up" would not be funny, it would sound tragic. But, Bristol having crossed the line on her own, left herself wide open for the joke. That joke was not aimed at Bristol or Willow. It was aimed at Sarah's position of abstinance working despite the opposite proof at home.
If we are to declare Letterman a dirty old man based on one series of jokes.
Then we must declare Palin as an bubble headed socialist idiot based on how she behaved during the election.
She runs a state where the citizens pay no taxes offers virtual no civil services and is basically funded by oil companies and the federal government. And where the regular people are paid for every child they have under the age of 18. But you know she's not as stupid as she sounded in the election. After it was over she came forward and said exactly why they lost.
Just got through watching Letterbomb squirm through an apology. Even though I know it wasn't heartfelt, it was good to see this pompous a**hole have to make a public apology. Go ahead let him keep his gig, this loser's ratings are only slightly better than that geek Olbermann. The only people that watch Olbermann & MSNBC are a handful of out of sync uber libtards who still live in their mom's basement.

Sarah Palin put her family in front of the cameras from day 1. She used them as props at every campaign stop and continues to do so to this day.

I'm a woman and found his comedy hilarious. Not because I've 'lost respect for myself' but because I find anything where Palin is the brunt of a joke fantastic.

you pegged it exactly right...these "right winged nut jobs" are so self-absorbed that they don't notice how bitter and humorless they sound...they demand an apology for every minor comment thrown their way.
