Karl Rove
After months of wrangling, former Bush administrators Karl Rove and Harriet Miers will appear before the House of Representative Judiciary Committee, chaired by Rep. John Conyers, following a federal court order ruling last year.
The congressional panel is investigating the firing of nine federal prosecutors. It will receive Bush White House documents relevant to the firings. Any claims to executive privilege will be limited.
Because of what he has called "mishandling" of the dismissal of the nine prosecutors, the then U.S. Attorney Alberto Gonzales was forced to resign under pressure. Gonzales still maintains that there was no wrong-doing and that the lawyers were not fired for political reasons.
No date has been set for testimony by Rove or Miers.
