WSU Basketball | Coach Ken Bone lands a scorer

Pullman, WA - Tuesday afternoon Washington State men's basketball Coach Ken Bone was pleased to announce the signing of Faisal Aden to a Letter of Intent. Aden will be part of the 2010-2011 signing class.

Aden is currently attending Hillsborough Community College in Tampa, FL.

A native of Somalia, Aden spent much of his youth in San Diego, CA before the family moved to Texas. He gained notice from college coaches during his junior and senior years at God's Academy prep school in Dallas.

In January of 2008, Aden committed to play ball for the Aggies of New Mexico State. He selected NMS over USC, Texas A&M, Fresno State, San Diego State, TCU, Long Beach State and SMU. The up tempo style Coach Marvin Menzies plays was the deciding factor.

The New Mexico State situation didn't pan out so Aden opted to transfer to Hillsborough.

“We’re excited about signing Faisal to a letter of intent,” Bone said. “He’s a 6-4 guard that can really shoot the ball from the perimeter…really good scorer, not just a shooter. He’s putting up big numbers right now (at Hillsborough Community College), he’s averaging about 30 points per game after like five games. He’s the type of guy that could come in and help us next year, whether he would play immediately next year or not, that’s for down the road, we’ll see what happens.” - WSU Coach Ken Bone

Aden is a first rate player. Last season at Hillsborough he averaged 20.4 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. His outstanding play earned him first-team All-State honors. Going into this season, Aden was named to the second-team All-American.

With a smooth shot to fill it up from anywhere on the court, Aden isn't afraid to drive to the hoop against opponents. He's also a good ball handler.

Coming to Washington State, Aden isn't expecting his new team to be all about scoring. Heck, he never would have had the time of day from Coach Bone were it not for his skills on defense. Long and lanky, he's a good defender that will only get better under the tutelage of the WSU coaching staff.
