PULLMAN, Wash. - Washington State University football student-athlete Cory Mackay was involved in a car accident Thursday evening on his way home to Redmond, Wash., Cougar head football coach Paul Wulff said.
Mackay had completed his last final and was heading home when the accident occurred outside of Washtucna. He was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for care of injuries suffered in the accident and is in stable condition.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with Cory and his family at this time,” Wulff said.
Mackay was a redshirt freshman on the Cougar football roster last season.
This spring, Mackay was listed third on the depth chart at left defensive end. He came on strong over the four week session earning praise from the coaching staff.
There was no word on the extent of Cory's injuries included in the statement issued by Bill Stevens, WSU Sports Information Director.
We'd like to add our best wishes and prayers to the entire Mackay family for Cory to have a speedy recovery.
