ESPN.com is reporting that Redskins secondary coach Jerry Gray will be the new head coach at the University of Memphis.
Gray has been the Redskins secondary coach for four seasons. Prior to that he was the defensive cooridnator with the Buffalo Bills.
Gray played nine seasons in the NFL with the Los Angeles Rams, Houston Oilers, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
According to ESPN, former Redskins coach Joe Gibbs recommended Gray for the Memphis job. The official announcement is not expected until after the Tigers last game against Tulsa on November 27. The Tigers are 2-9 under outgoing coach Tommy West.
