Huskies in the running for several highly rated recruits

As national signing day quickly approaches, coaches are out trying to secure final commitments from the remaining undecided recruits.

The Washington Huskies have a solid class so far with 19 known commits, highlighted by two four-star quarterbacks. Scout.com ranks Washington’s class 44th in the nation and ninth in the Pac-12. But as signing day approaches and several big time prospects make their decisions, the Huskies class could improve greatly. Here are some commits who could still sign with the Dawgs.

WR Jordan Payton: Payton, a four-star recruit and 15th best WR according to Scout, announced during the U.S. Army All-American Bowl that he was going to sign with Cal. But since then, the Huskies have hired two former Cal coaches and Payton is now seriously considering Washington. He took an official visit last week and loved it and is set to make a decision on signing day. Scout.com has predicted that Payton will sign with UW.

OT Zach Banner: The five-star lineman has narrowed his list to UW, USC and Oklahoma. Banner took his last official visit last weekend to USC and will announce his decision on Monday. Scout predicts that Banner will sign with the Trojans.

S Shaq Thompson: Thompson was a solid to Cal until the coaching changes caused him to reopen his recruiting. The top-ranked safety in America is seriously considering Oregon, Cal and UW, but has kept quite as of late so we might not know until signing day where Thompson ends up.

OG Jake Eldrenkamp: Eldrenkamp, a three-star recruit, is set to make his decision on Wednesday. He is considering UW and WSU.

CB Brandon Beaver: There was speculation that the three-star corner out of Dominguez High School in California had committed to UW last week. But Beaver said he had not and will announce on signing day where he is headed. Beaver is considering Washington and Oklahoma.

QB Cyler Miles: Miles has been a solid commit to UW for a while. But after a good showing at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, he has been getting more attention. Miles is thought to be considering USC also now, but still favors UW. Scout picks Miles to sign with Washington.
