Huskies gymnastics nearly upsets No. 14 Stanford

The Washington Huskies came out firing, putting up solid scores on the bars and vault before the Stanford Cardinal came roaring back to clip the GymDawgs 195.825-195.675 on Sunday afternoon.

The Huskies started on the bars, where three Huskies put up three scores of 9.825 to help the GymDawgs set a season best with a 49.050.

Washington’s second rotation was on the vault, where the Huskies again put up a season best score. Amanda Cline finished second in the event with a 9.875 to lead Washington.

The Huskies hit the floor for their third rotation and had another season best. The Huskies were led by McKenzie Fechter with a 9.850, as the Huskies scored a 48.700.

The GymDawgs final rotation was on the beam, where the Dawgs put up solid score after solid score for another season best score. Paige Bixler led Washington with a 9.825 to place third in the meet.

The Huskies return home to host their first meet of the season when No. 7 UCLA pays a visit to Seattle next Friday.
