Professor Phil Jones, director of the Climate Research Unit (CRU) of the University of East Anglica is temporarily stepping down pending an independent investigation of the Climategate e-mails.
This comes as a result of several e-mails from Professor Jones suggesting, among other things, that data be deleted rather than made available for Freedom of Information (FOI) requests, and follows recent revelations that the raw data held by CRU is no longer available for outside scrutiny.
Professor Jones is not the only leading global warming theorist to get caught up in the back lash from the Climategate e-mails. Here in America, Penn State is planning to investigate Professor Michael Mann. Several of the e-mails suggest that Mann is guilty of fabricating data to support global warming theory. In one e-mail, Professor Mann asked other researchers to “delete certain E-mails” regarding data manipulation.
The problem is not just in the possibility that the data has been manipulated to show temperature increases where none exist, it also includes the suppression of dissenting opinion. Both researchers mentioned above are shown to be guilty of that as well in the Climategate e-mails. This is something that global warming skeptics have been complaining about for years and now we have proof that there is an organized attempt to restrain contrary findings.
“This was the danger of always criticising the skeptics for not publishing in the “peer-reviewed literature”. Obviously, they found a solution to that–take over a journal! So what do we do about this? I think we have to stop considering “Climate Research” as a legitimate peer-reviewed journal. Perhaps we should encourage our colleagues in the climate research community to no longer submit to, or cite papers in, this journal.”
This is really nothing new and has been going on for quite some time. "I read a paper on increasing heat in the ocean and asked the scientist in France for the backup data," Willie Soon, a physicist, astronomer and climate researcher at the solar and stellar physics division of the Harvard University-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics told Fox news. "She told me she did not distribute data to people who didn't agree with her conclusions."
As this scandal continues to unfold, more and more revelations can be expected. Unfortunately this will not stop the head-long rush to “fix” the climate, as if we could, at next week's Copenhagen summit. The Obama White House is ignoring the e-mails and continuing onwards as if nothing has happened. Eco celebreties will fly their private jets to Copenhagen exhorting the rest of us to do like they say, not like they do. And the profiteering that underlies the global warming scare will continue - for a mere 5,999 Danish Kroners ($1,209), attendees will be able to shake Al Gore's hand and have a picture taken.
Meanwhile, earth's climate will continue to change in whatever way it decides to change all by itself regardless of our puny attempts to alter it.

It's a start! But policy does not quickly follow truth! The whole conference needs to be put on hold. Participants ignore the truth and jeopardize their cause and reputations.
The fact that so many world leaders are showing up in Copenhagen is proof perfect of the measure of determination we all face from the malevolent cockroaches who call themselves our "leaders." They want unbridled control over our lives.
But make no mistake. The cat is now out of the bag. Climategate has legs on steroids. American MSM is trying to ignore this fraud but they WILL fail and further shame themselves, as if being further shamed were possible.
Now, only the most mind-numbed global warming cultists will be left to doubt that this has been the greatest scientific fraud ever perpetrated against humanity. Now we can see in the cold light of day the pure evil that we face.

Good article, but I think there's a lot more to this ClimateGate picture. This small (2 to 3 dozen) cabal of climate scientists could not have possibly gotten to this point without extraordinary funding, political support at virtually all levels of government, especially at the national level and unparalleled cooperation from the national and world media. This wide-spread networked support continues even as we the people puzzle over what this is all about. I ask you, "What are you seeing and hearing from our national media on the subject?" Anything? What are you seeing and hearing from all levels of our government, local and regional newspapers and media outlets? Anything of substance? The reason the media and politicians are so silent on this is because the global warming proponents have been so ruthless in their assault on anyone that dares question the science. The stigma of being labeled a denier is just too great. Careers can be ruined by saying the wrong thing, so the fear factor is high.
Having said that, I think we may see a tipping point as more information comes to light. I'm sure many scientists that once strongly supported AGW are now rethinking their position and shaking in their boots in case this thing snowballs and their whole house of cards comes tumbling down. When you read the emails it is obvious that Briffa was not happy with being bullied into producing a paper that was as he states "Not his own".
The programmer's comments also suggest that the fiddle fudge factors were deceitful.
All the global warming movement is; is one big ponzzi scheme to extort money from the government, to control people and scam tax money out of citizens and corporations. Everyone involved should be arrested and forced to pay back every government grant they recieved. Al Gore should be the first one to be put in jail.
