It looks like Michael Nylander will not go to the KHL after all. Avangard Omsk were trying to sign the Washington Capitals center since July. I brought you many updates about the negotiations.
But now it looks like if there is another European team interested in Nylander's services, that team is not from the KHL.
In an interview with Pavel Lysenkov of Sovetsky Sport following the signing of another now-former NHL player Anton Babchuk, Omsk Governor's assistant in charge of hockey answered a question about Michael Nylander:
Could Washington Capitals center Michael Nylander still end up in Avngard?
"He is not interesting [to us] anymore. We do have money for new contracts. We are monitoring the market and are always ready to do a good transfer [to sign a new player]. But you have to join Avangard at the time when you are asked to join. We signed another center - Eric Perrin - in Nylander's place. And we are very happy with him. Why should anything be changed?"
It looks like the Capitals have to find other takers for the Swede now.
