Star Wars Weekend Celebrity Motorcade packs Hollywood Boulevard at Disney's Hollywood Studios

It was amazing! Guests at Disney’s Hollywood Studios started saving their spots on Hollywood Boulevard one and a half hour before the Star Wars Weekend Celebrity Motorcade. I know. I was one of them. But let me tell you, it was well worth it.

To start off the parade was Jedi Mickey, Stormtrooper Donald, Princess Minnie and Darth Goofy leading the way. Kids were cheering as their favorite Disney characters took on the roles of some of their favorite Star Wars characters. To be honest with you, once I heard the music and saw Jedi Mickey coming down Hollywood Boulevard I got goose bumps.

The characters were followed by the Padawans from the Jedi Training Academy held throughout the day next to Star Tours. They were so cute all dressed up in their Jedi robes and carrying their light sabers. All were ready to take on Darth Vader.

Next came members of the 501st Legion, Vader’s First, which celebrates the passion which is behind the Star Wars legacy. According to the Chapter I of the Legion’s Charter document “The Legion is a volunteer club formed for the express purpose of bringing together costume enthusiast and giving them a collective identity within which to operate. The Legion’s aims are to celebrate the Star Wars movies through the wearing of costumes, to promote the quality and improvement of costumes and props, and most importantly to contribute to the local community through charity and volunteer work.”

Members of the 501st both local and national marched in the Star Wars Celebrity motorcade showing off such costumes.

The parade continued with Sith and Jedi characters scattered among the celebrities – Jeremy Bulloch (Boba Fett), David Prowse (Darth Vader), Jay Laga’aia (Captain Typho), Ashley Eckstein (voice of Ahsoka) and Matt Lanter (voice of Anakin Skywalker).

If you were not a Star Wars fan and happened to be at Disney’s Hollywood Studios for this parade chances are you felt the force from the excitement of the moment. Guests were cheering for their favorite Star Wars characters as they passed by.

If you missed Star Wars Weekends at the Walt Disney World Resorts (so far just the last three weekends), you still have one more weekend to get in on the fun. Star Wars Weekends final days are June 12, 13 and 14. Grab your light saber and get to Disney’s Hollywood Studios before it is too late. After this weekend the characters will be returning to a galaxy far, far away. Well, at least until next year.
