Virginia Tech and N.C. State game set for 3:30 on ESPNU

Blacksburg, VA -- The 16th ranked Virginia Tech Hokies play their final home game of the 2009 season on Saturday, Nov. 21, against N.C. State. The game will be televised on ESPNU.

The Wolfpack were preseason favorites to win the Atlantic Coast Conference's Atlantic Division, but have struggled to a 4-6 record and just 1-5 in the ACC. Head coach Tom O'Brien and his team must win their final two games to avoid a losing record and become bowl eligible, so the Hokies will get the Pack's best effort.

At first glance, it would appear the Hokies should win this game easily, but as with the Maryland game, Virginia Tech must again step up on defense because N.C. State has the third-best scoring offense in the ACC, behind Georgia Tech and Clemson. The Pack puts up 33 points a game, so the Hokies better come prepared.

The fact that State can scored 33 points a game and still have only one ACC win just illustrates who bad its defense is. The Wolfpack is 11th out of 12 teams in scoring defense. If the Hokies can play offense that way they did in a 36-9 win over Maryland, then expect Tech to romp to an easy win.

If the Hokies take the Pack lightly and slip up on defense, N.C. State can put points on the board.

Game time is 3:30 p.m. and will be televised on ESPNU.
