One of the rarest rock events ever captured on film, the 1964 concert known as "The T.A.M.I. Show," is finally being released on DVD March 23 by Shout Factory.
The concert, filmed at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium on Oct. 29, 1964. features performances by the Rolling Stones, James Brown, Chuck Berry, the Beach Boys, Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson & The Miracles, the Supremes, and many others. This is fantastic news! The Tami show is, along with Monterey Pop and Woodstock, one of the top live concert films of the 60's. I know Shout Factory will do a great job (anything will be better than the crappy sounding "Let It Rock"). The only thing that would be even better than this news would be that they had found the original videotape masters! (the film was transferred from tape to film using a process the producers called TAMI-vision, or Teen-A-Vision, or Dyna-vision or something).
I'VE BEEN REQUESTING THIS ON TCM'S WEBSITE FOR SOME TIME, AND THEY WILL SHOW THIS SOMETIME NEXT YEAR. NOW CAN WE GET THE BIG T.N.T. SHOW TOO? THE BYRDS WERE ON THAT ONE, I BELIEVE.
Rick: I did ask about "The TNT Show," but haven't heard anything. I'll ask again. I'd think that if they have the one show, they'd have the other, too.
Thanks Mrs. Phil Spector
