Free to play RTS "Hive Rise" is now available for Linux users
Last week I introduced you to Hive Rise, which plays like 'Casual Command & Conquer' with quick maps supporting up to 1000 human players, downloadable replays, stat-tracking, 12 modes of play, and in-game music provided by what appears to be a rotating list of cutting edge 'net radio stations.
Developer Vulcando Games just announced the client is now penguin powered, available for all you Linux geeks, and the system requirements seem pretty reasonable:
- Hive Rise needs a current Linux with at least kernel 2.6.23 or higher, Xorg 1.4 or higher and GTK 2.12 or higher.
- OpenGL hardware acceleration must be activated.
- On a 64 Bit Linux (X86_64) you'll need all 32 bit compatibility libraries. Also the OpenGL drivers have to be installed with 32 bit support.
- You can grab more information (e.g. on installation) in the Hive Rise Linux Forum.
Both Windows & Linux clients are available for download here.
