Microsoft is giving its Xbox Live members an even better deal. Members will now get 25-50% off DLC, Xbox Original games, and Arcade titles. Benefits to a Gold membership already include:
- Multiplayer games: Invite your friends online to play games
- Marketplace: Gold members get early and exclusive access to game videos and demos
- TrueSkill matchmaking: Matches every game you play to your appropriate skill level.
- Parties: Invite a group of friends into an Xbox LIVE Party, then you can transfer this party to a certain game, watch movies, and chat.
- Gamer feedback: Use the feedback system to select players you want to play with or don't when you are online. This also affects your "REP".
- Watch Netflix movies: Xbox LIVE Gold members who also belong to Netflix can watch Netflix’s streaming movies and TV shows right on their console with no extra charge from Microsoft or Netflix.
The deal this week will give gamers 33% off Braid. It will be available for 800 Microsoft points ($10) compared to the previous price of 1200 Microsoft points ($15). Gamers can look forward to these deals weekly with Ninja Gaiden II DLC, Project Gotham Racing 4 DLC and Fable to come.
It's refreshingly surprising that Microsoft is throwing more deals our way considering that most people have a Gold membership already. I imagine though, with these kind of offers people will be more satisfied with what they are getting when they pay the $50 for access. Will these offers convince you to buy more content on Xbox Live?

I will never buy an xbox or pay for online multiplayer, no matter how much M$ tries to sweeten the deal. Suckers use Live and suckers buy crappy hardware. Meh.
Oldest gamer: I used to say that but the 360 and xbox live is a far superior product to the ps3 and PSN. I will happily pay £40 a year to get a great service whilst the PSN struggles to maintain a single game online in comparison.

James: Your experience with the PSN is not everyones experience. But my statement is true to everyone, everyone on live pays for their multiplayer feature that the PSN gets for free. All the same multiplayer options and even more players in games, for free on PSN. The PSN distributed service will always better a 20 year old peer to peer service which live is built on.
Oldest Gamer.... Why the fanboy stance their? By your name I'd assume that you're of slightly advanced years (and therefore intellect). Maybe it's a UK thing but whenever I used PSN games would constantly bomb. To the point where I hardly use it anymore. I, Like James, will happily pay my £40 for a superior service where I can play without the constant thought of being chucked out mid-game. The Ps3 will in the future be the superior console, but for the moment it isn't (and equally by that time I'd expect the newer MS console to be released). I'm not being a fanboy here, just telling you the way I see it!
For me, online multi-player is not something I would ever pay for. I only play online PS3 games because it's free - if I had to pay for the PSN, I would never play online games and not really miss it.
Mr. Scooch, why the fanboy defense? By your name I'd suggest you are girly xbox user who doesn't know a rip off when you pay for it. Stay on live, pay for what PSN gets for free. By your argument the entire gaming culture should embrace a paid for service (like live) because why? It has been free for decades on every other platform, with far superior services than live will ever offer. I will never pay to play online, period. I isn't justified or even fair.
I own both consoles and my live subscription has just run out for now I will just play multiplayer on PSN which seems fine to me.

I pay my 50 buck a year and I'm happy with it, its around 4 buck per month... you are saying that you pay 60 for a game and not 4 for a superior on line experience... go buy a Wii its cheaper, games are 40 buck and online is free also, terrible but free.

Well it's obvious oldest gamer has a bug up his ass about Microsoft or should I say M$. That's ok, I'll continue paying for a online service that's easier and far more enjoyable than a free service like PSN. You can't even talk in one of their biggest games, GT5: Prologue. It's pretty obvious Live is the better network when the only rebuttal people seem to have is the price. Sure some games like Resistance and Warhawk are great but as a whole Live is still king baby.
Oldest Gamer: You have got to be the biggest douche bag I seen in a long time. You ask scooch why the fanboy rant and you started spewing out some of the most hypocritical crap I've hear in a while.
Your stand has 10 times the fanboy slant that scooches. You sound like some whiny old fart that had a bad experience and have totally thrown in the town and you want everyone else to feel your wrath.
Well guess what? I think you're a moron and people like you just annoy the hell out of me with your self righteous BS!
Get lost creep!
Has nobody here heard of eBay. Xbox live costs between £24 - £29 there. At this price comparing PSN to xbox live would be offensive. I was playing Street fighter last night whilst talking to five friends simultaneously, all without a hint of lag in any of our games. Till PSN offers anywhere near that online gaming on a console will have to be done on a 360.
That's pretty awesome. People really need to experience the awesomeness of Braid for 800 pts.
While both console have online communities, it seems to be that Xbox Live has the upper hand. Most PS3 owners will usually admit that is the only thing the 360 beats the PS3 in. I happen to enjoy playing both, but you do get what you pay for. It seems that while PS3 fans get to raise the flag for the best hardware and less issues with equipment malfunction, 360 fans can fly their own for a better online community.
these things should be permanent if they want to sell more live subcriptions, its good the deal of the week but it needs to be permanent
XBL is wrong for gaming. e.g. not connected to xbl anymore? your xbl arcade games are unplayable now.
imagine a m$ rep walking into your home and taking away fallout 3 the moment your xbl account is deleted. sounds flat out retarded right?
Xbox Live needs to be free like Playstation Network, paying $50 a year is a scam. This is why Bill Gates has more then 50 billion dollars because idiots like yourself enjoy buying a last generation console and paying $50/year for multi-platform games that can easily be played on playation for FREE!
Seems like the xbots commenting don't like to be called out on being ripped off. Called fanboys or anything else, can't take it? Keep paying and see what you'll own in a couple of years - nothing! M$ will keep all your 'bought' items from Live until you keep paying. Grow up and live with your Live decision. PSN 21 million strong versus 17 million belonging to a decade old peer to peer network that only 65% even pay for. Blame me, blame Sony, you can't cope with the reality your getting ripped off, so be it. No pay to play rules!
I like the Xbox for gaming, but the Netflix streaming is bad. I don't think they should be combining the two. I tried the streaming for a little while, but I think I am going to stick with my VUDU Box.
I would rather have on dedicated box for movies, and another for gaming.
Oldest, I should have the last say here due to the fact that you're an idiot. At no point in my last post did I say anything fanboy-ish. You are the fanboy and I think everyone on here realises that. It's people llike you that make the general public view gamers as kids! Your "My dad's bigger than your dad" attitude is both immature and stupid in equal measures. Grow up and get an education!!!
