Well, that was easy. Please don't sue me STAPLES. Wii Sports has just passed Super Mario Bros. (NES) to become the number one selling video game of all time. The amazing part about this whole deal is that it only took two years for them to sell over 40 million units. The title is bundled with a Wii in every location with the exception of Korea and Japan. Hence, if you purchased a Wii, you were also the proud owner of this "disc of fun".
What makes Wii Sports stand above the rest in present day? Unlike most "bundled" games, it has a high replay value. All the other systems as of late, come with games I would be hard pressed to use as a coaster for a cold beer, much less play them. Before you counteract my argument, be advised that Super Mario Bros. initially did come packaged as a bundle and this was in the 80's when Nintendo had NO competition.
The Wii, along with the Rock Band phenomenon has been a staple of parties and social events of the past year. A local area bar, Hot Rod Cafe ,often has Wii themed nights which attract the public (along with their great wings!). This is when you see the domino effect : People play the Wii and have a good time, then they tell their friends, which leads to....SALES(cha ching!).
Well, if you thought the Wii was a gimmick, I'm sorry, friend it is here to stay. Look for Wii Sports: Resort due out later this year.

I think I have to agree with your assessment of Wii Sports. After all,Wii Sports was a hit during the Christmas holidays. Every night, I play a few games of bowling. Not only is my skill level increasing with each game, but the shape of my body is changing

I totally agree! The Wii in general is a huge success. I recently got Samba de Amigo and I put on a sombrero and play it with family and friends. Wii is the best party console ever!

It upsets me that of all things to topple Mario that its Wii Sports. But hey it did in a way revolutionize the way we play games much like mario did 23 years ago
I think Wii is a good system. But, as with all things, its has its time and place. I don't feel you can get in some hardcore gametime with a Wii.
