Online Tournaments

Ever found yourself wanting to play a tournament where you didn’t have to go anywhere but the comfort of your own home? Perhaps you’ve found a few of these online tournaments before, but there was so much drama and disrespect from other teams and judges/referees.  Look no further than RGLPRO Friday Night Fights. When I approached the leaders of RGLPRO Friday Night Fights, they were extremely excited and cooperative in sharing how well structured they were with running this organization.

Started 3 years ago, the group is on their third season of tournaments. Founded by (Xbox live gamertags) THE REAL JOKER, Thee godoforange, and KSI lagnaroks 7. RGLPRO FNF currently operates on Halo Reach and Call of Duty: Black Ops, alternating every week between the two and looking into expanding into a variety of other games such as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. The organization is privately sponsored and does receive donations from the KSI Global community, with that said, RGLPRO FNF does work to have prizes for the 1st place winners, though being privately sponsored there are times there are no prizes. Prizes typically consist of Microsoft points or Xbox live monthly subscriptions.

The RGLPRO FNF team meets several nights a week before the big day on Fridays to discuss schedules, which events will be done, and what prizes will be offered that week. KSI Chris 7 is one of four head Judges who moderate all other judges to include making sure they have the right maps and game types for the tournaments. Allowing 32 teams a week to play, each team is consisted of 4 members, one of which being the captain, responsible for registering his/her team on the RGLPRO website at least thirty minutes prior to tournament starting. Each match consists of two teams and their own judge to monitor the match for rule violations.

RGLPRO Friday Night Fights currently has two faces, Halo Reach and Call of Duty: Black Ops. The Halo side is headed up by KSI Queen Jess and KSI Fuzzymeep, whereas the COD side is run by THE REAL JOKER, KSI Tex 7, KSI lagnaroks 7, thee godoforange, and eViLxGoYaBeans. Each team finds it important to communicate and listen to the participants and is always open to suggestions on how to make the tournaments better. “RGLPRO Friday Night Fights is for gamers by gamers,” says Joker as we continued to go more in-depth into the world that is RGLPRO FNF. KSI Queen Jess followed with “We are trying to promote a positive gaming atmosphere.”

The Halo Reach team is always hard at work for the next night they host a tournament. Normally the game types are either Slayer Pro or Team SWAT. Although, they have been known to evaluate FORGE maps from participants, and if approved, use them for tournament matches running them as Slayer Pro game types. The team is also looking into sniper variants and Capture the Flag as well, due to the massive response received on their websites polls (http://www.rglpro.com/news.php)

Now with the Call of Duty: Black Ops team, they primarily run Hardcore and Core Team Death Match game types. They too are looking at moving into other variants such as Capture the Flag and Domination, with a massive response on their own polls on their website to game types such as these (http://www.rglpro.com/news.php)

RGLPRO Friday Night Fights does believe, and enforce, an Equal Opportunity tournament, carried out by Judges. Rules for tournaments are covered on their website as well as a Code of Conduct which can be viewed at http://www.rglpro.com/page.php?14. If you don’t make it to the finals, or if you did, and you want to see the final game, RGLPRO FNF does have members that record matches with commentary on their YouTube page (http://www.youtube.com/user/FridayNightFightsFNF).

The crew of RGLPRO Friday Night Fights works completely online, whether on computer or over Xbox live, even my interview with them was done online. With the crew growing, RGLPRO FNF is looking at branching into more games as their staff and resources grow, and have already announced moving to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. So keep checking in and I’ll be keeping everyone updated on what is new to come in the world of RGLPRO Friday Night Fights.
