No More Heroes to be ported to Ps3 and Xbox 360

Travis Touchdown and Sylvia Christel of No More Heroes

No More Heroes, an action brawler game formerly released exclusively on the Wii is now being brought over to the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles next year as No More Heroes:  Heroes' Paradise.  The game, created by "art house" developers Grasshopper Manufacture, centered on the exploits of American Otaku Travis Touchdown, a man obsessed with anime and professional wrestling who wins a "beam katana" in an internet auction and decides to use it become the #1 hitman in order to secure more money for anime and other geek paraphernalia.  The game, utilizing the Wii-mote's motion detection to simulate sword swings of the beam katana, was well received by critics, but sold poorly, likely due to its more "hardcore gamer", niche design on the casual friendly Wii.  The game, like Grasshopper's previous title, Killer 7, uses a unique style of art direction, and deliberately deconstructs the conventions of gaming, often to confusing and/or comedic effect.

This announcement follows on earlier comments by publisher Marvelous Games that they were interested in bring their library of Wii titles to other consoles.  However, there is no mention of whether the upcoming sequel, No More Heroes 2, will also be making the transition from the Wii to HD consoles.  The original trailer for No More Heroes is viewable below.
