MAG is an ambitious online-only first-person shooter on the Playstation 3. Although the game for fairly positive reviews, one of the main complaints about it has been the lack of balance between the three main fractions: Raven, S.V.E.R. and Valor.
Fortunately, it looks like the developer is taking an active approach in resolving these issues in MAG. Jeremy Dunham, the Sr. Community Manager of Zipper Interactive, made the following statement on the comments section of the Playstation.Blog:
We are always working on the balancing for all three factions — this is a job that will never truly be done since there are so many contributing factors thanks to online play, new strategies, creative exploits, etc. Don’t expect us to stop looking for things to adjust for a long, long time.
He later went into more details about rebalancing MAG:
Anytime there’s the an overwhelming perception that there’s a balancing issue that needs to be addressed, we’re committed to looking into what the facts are to determine what needs to be adjusted, followed by applying those (or not adjusting things at all depending on what we find) as soon as we can.
Point in fact, our next few in-game updates are going to sport a number of significant balancing adjustments that should impact the game quite noticeably regardless of who you play as.

Good, glad Zipper is on top of it. I just got the game but from what I read SVER has an advantage on defending. I know most SVER players will claim it's because they are better but when it's an overwhelming perception like they suggested it is I imagine there is a correction in order and it's not that the SVER players are better.
I expect whining to follow when they do update it. Too many online players want any advantage they can get, which is a shame when it's supposed to be about fun at the end of the day. So you might as well try and make it fun for everyone.
Best would be to just allow every faction to attack & defend on all the maps, I don't think us fans care how you would explain that in that Shadow war thing, it would bring balance to the whole game. Another thing is the 'random' choice of maps. It has become usual for me as Raven to play our own map 4 or 5 times in a row, followed by 1 assault map and then back to defending 4 or 5 times, and thats regardless of who is holding the contracts. The only way to choose a map is to join an ongoing game of a friend or clamember, but they got the same problem and defending Darien Network 4 times is getting boring.
The game is a awesome though, winning a well coordinated 128 player Aquisition is one of the best multiplayer experiences I ever had. Leading your troops in battle is priceless. MAG is all about getting the job done, too bad most reviewers can't see the unique beauty of this one-of-kind game. The metagame of developing your leaderskills is something I can really appreciate.

Well said LevelHead. Im a SVER member i agree that the game is all about the fun. BUT... i do notice that Valor seem to have more power than SVER when it comes to weaponry. many a time ive sat shooting at someone and theyve turned round and managed to kill me. Lag will always be an issue (and europeans and Asians will always be better gamers than Americans as we are warborn) Especially us lot in the UK as we are a Island nation and have been bred through pure war. And Raven just generally suck (which hurts as they have english troops :( )

svers weapons are better than valor, especially the ARs. euros and asians will always be better games because they are 'warborn' LMFAO! thats the dumbest thing i have ever read. every shooter I play, the people who sucks the most are people from euro, dont include yourself with asians, thats a complete joke and disgrace to them.

i vet'd off sver because it was completely boring to defend, it shouldnt be like that. the 'line of sight' for sver completely unbalances the game, anyone who doesnt realize that, hasnt played all 3 PMCs enough.

"Fraction" ?
Attacking SVER (Domonation) is a slaughterfest for 3 reasons. 1) Pinch points. 1) Direct line of sight from bunkers. 3) Consoles are in a fortress.
Beating SVER on domination can be done...but you need to work together like a well oiled machine. And that rarely happens in MAG. I really hope that Zipper can balance things without ticking off the SVER crew. It's a great game that wasn't quite tweaked enough in the beta.

You probably do suck and your probably one of those NooBs that has no skills that lays on your belly next to the ammo crate to get your kills so your K/D ratio would stay up. Go ahead and go to play BFBC2 it is another MW2 with tanks, see ya NooB !

The only reason everyone is complaining about SVER is because they are winning Dom. Each faction has a map they are dominating in. Stop bitching. Everyone's getting a piece of the pie.

Your the NOOB and probe like using nukes in MW2. MAG is made for real men who like to play as a team, MW2 is for boys who like to play with dolls...so go play with your barbies...
