Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots cover.
Ever since the trophy system was introduced in July of 2008, fans of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots on the Playstation 3 have been asking Konami and Kojima Productions to patch trophies into the game. However, both have remained silent on the issue until now.
In the latest Kojima Productions podcast, Sean Eyestone issued the following statement:
Just to address one issue that we’ve been getting a lot of comments about. And this is, of course, about trophies.
I just wanna tell everybody out there right now that your voices are being heard and that we’re not ignoring you. We hear everything that you are saying. It’s just that we can’t say anything just yet.
But as soon as we have something to say, we will announce it. So, if we can just ask everyone to just be patient, we will give you an answer. But right now we can’t say anything. So we just ask for everyone’s understanding with that and just ask for everybody to remain patient and we’ll let you know.
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots was released exclusively for the Playstation 3 on June 12, 2008. Trophies support didn’t become a requirement until 2009. Still, many developers decided to patch it in their games, which pre-dated the feature, as a courtesy move to their fan base. With Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots being one of the best-selling games on the Playstation 3, Kojima Productions should reward those who bought their game.

Konami should give MGS 4 the same treatment as Lucas Arts is giving the force unleashed.
Patch in trophies for the old version. (also include trophies for MGonline)
Release a special edition (like they have done with all past MGS games) that includes extras (boss rush, Vr missions etc).
Perhaps also release a PSN standalone version of MGonline with trophies.
After yesterdays reports of poor sales in Q1 for konami making the moves that I have just mentioned would surley generate good money for konami.
Being a long long long time MGS fan ( Dec 1998 ). This is good news. I would love to play MGS4 again for trophies. I can never get enough as it is. :) Thx for the news about it.
Trophies hit PS3 on 9/28/2009...Mgo and Mgs4 will be patched at this moment ! It's the big Kojima's surprise for Playstation users...This info will be announced at GC at Cologne (Europe)...
I wouldn't really call this news. There's nothing new been said. They've just commented on the fact they can't comment on it.
Truth be told, I am a Huge Metal Gear Solid Fan but still have not picked up MGS4 only because everytime I picked up a Metal Gear game they ended up coming out with a substance version later on. Now I can't keep affording remakes and re-hashs of these games. So I have just been waiting for them to bring out MGS4 Substance with Trophy support. Hopefully this will come sooner rather then later.

We DON'T need trophies.
For gods sake, too many people are complaining about this, and it's not even worth your time.
I don't see why people want them so much, it's just a stupid icon to put in their trophy card and act cool.
It's all good to have another reason to play a game again, and I wouldn't mind if we did get them, but people need to stop treating it like it's a massive requirement.

Metal Gear Solid 4 is the greatest game ever. I don't play games for Trophies or Achievements, I play for the experience. Despite this, MGS4 needs trophy support. It deserves another playthrough or 6.
And if you aint got it, you're no MGS fan. Nothing comes close.

Trophies & achievements, gamer-scores & gamer-levels... all a bunch of nonsense. MGS4 is fine without the addition of trophies, as are all games. If you can't enjoy a game without trophies or achievements, you're an idiot.
Please have all trophies be earned offline. MGO was fun on the PS2, but I am not able to play a single game on the PS3. As soon as I start a game it freezes for a minute and then boots me off.
YEAH! What's wrong with trophies? It adds another layer of depth an already fantastic game, and gives you the perfect amount of replay value, giving those who are interested in trophies a great sense of accomplishment when they're achieved. So trophies are a good thing as long as you don't become a trophy whore and only play/buy games for trophies. So if you're against trophies or achievements, shut up.
Nice now i can watch this movie again(or is it a game?) AND get trophies.
we always waiting the trophies ,i had finnshed the hole game 17times and i even got the BIG BOSS state ,i know the trophies is not accoet by hidio kojima,is reached by kojima team or konami , trophies about the disline park is unuseful,and we wish the online trophies ,and the online pack of the character (raden.vamp,johhny,maryer)can used in the disline game

Hey Konami - it's probably a great game, but I'm not buying it until you add trophy support. And that be that.
Greatest series of all time seems to just get better if/when they add the trophies. I hope they remain just for the game and not the online part. That online part is just ruined from all the cheaters. I have a ton of game play time in that and when Kojima adds something of value to the online. Say Survival mode where you earn reward points. It brings out a ton of cheaters with there little lag switches and glitches. But for the game, do it up. I've love to play it again and again. Started playing MGS Dec 26th 1998 and never knew it would become this big today. Good times.
prepare to buy the game again mgs 4 Dependence or something haha just like the other 2 on the ps2 its basically the same game with a bit more content, that content being trophy support :\ thats what I see happening anyways

people, this quote was released 11 1/2 months ago. i dont think they really care abut adding trophies anymore, in case you haven't noticed the only things they've added are cheap methods for DLC like in order to get the third DLC you must buy the first and second one as well.
I like MGS as it was the reason i got a ps2 and eventually a ps3, but konami are full of themselves, they capitalize their pride knowing people will buy their games then leave them hanging, they wont fix anything until they are dissatisfied with the way things are going.
You guys have to say that the game sucks without trophies otherwise if u brag about how great it is, they realize you will play it with/without trophies and therefore they wont waste money on upgrading it. and kojima said he was completely done with MGS4, he said he wont be releasing a substance like version of MGS4.
Only fans in denial still hope trophies will be implemented, it'll do you good to move on, from this game there's better stuff
