According to the latest fiscal report by Microsoft, the amount of new Xbox Live registrations grew by 35% year-over-year during the Q2 reporting period (October 1st to December 31st) of 2009 compared to the same period in the previous year. The boost could be attributed to the record-breaking launch of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, which was released on November 10th of last year.
The online gaming service is now at an impressive 23 million users worldwide.

if there are 23 million users, WHY THE FARK ARE WE STILL PLAYING £40/$50 A YEAR!???
SHouldn't we at least pay less?
for this bullsh*, I'm going to silver account!
Who cares about u few bucks a year ?? for a sweet online service , i guess im wondering now why some people arnt complaining about them handing out free xboxes lol , mabey the shopping centers will start handing out free blu-ray players too lol
these numbers mean nothing, just like my ps3, i have 4 xbox live accounts. just created the 4th today to get free live so i can play bfbc2. wont be buying live again since its not worth it to me.
Interesting that they fail to mention how many are actually Gold account holders, or how many are actually currently active.
