EA Sports Active 2.0 expands platforms but not to Xbox 360

EA Sports Active 2.0

The EA Sports Active franchise has been a money maker for EA Sports.  Since it debuted in May of 2009, it has raked in over $125 million and that is just for the Wii.  So, it makes sense that EA would bring a sequel to the table and expand to other platforms by announcing Wii, Playstation 3 and even iPhone and iPod versions.  What is odd though is the lack of Xbox 360 support.

The Xbox 360 snub is interesting in that EA Sports Active 2.0 comes with its own sensors and doesn't appear to require the use of the Wii-mote or Sony's upcoming motion controls for the PS3.  Instead, it uses an "innovative motion sensor peripherals and a heart rate monitor that provide users with a fitness experience delivering real, measurable results."

So why the lack of an Xbox 360 version?  No word from Sony yet but the Xbox 360 does use its own proprietary wireless technology that they have been stingy about licensing out.  It would be hard to fathom Microsoft skipping out on a big seller from EA Sports but other possibilities exist like an EA Sports Active version solely for the Natal motion camera system.  However, stranger things have happened.

Other features of the game include an online hub where EA Sports Active uses can "share their fitness journeys, interact with workout groups and send messages to each other online to stay inspired and engaged."  PS3 users will be able to download additional workouts as well.

Wanna lose weight, shut your pie whole and get on a treadmill. These passive workout games are crap and I am glad its not coming out for the 360. IT belongs on the Wii for "passive gamers" and I guess PS3 wants to be like the Wii. The 360 is for real gamers.
