As warned earlier this month, take-Two's yearly revenue took a huge hit. Although the losses were no worse than expected they still did have a year-end net loss of $137.9 million and a Q4 net loss of $22 million.
With Borderlands, NBA 2K10, the Grand Theft Auto IV episodes, and Grand Theft Auto IV are Take-Two's key games, and were, fortunately for the company, very successful in sales. Chairman Strauss Zelnick did note that the disappointing outlook of 2009 was in part due to "a very difficult economic environment" but plans for 2010 remain optimistic and "reflect a prudent approach to managing our business."
On a side note, Take-Two also confirmed that their Shooter/RPG smash-hit, Borderlands, has now reached a landmark of 2 million copies sold worldwide, establishing itself as one of Take-Two's prominent franchises, in which the company does hold long-term publishing rights.

Imagine if Take Two offered DLC for the PS3 as well? Oh well take on cash handouts at the beginning from M$ and see the results afterwards. Look at all the companies working creating exclusives for 360 since the beginning and see them disappear or take financial hits: rare, ensemble studios, EA, ubisoft, Take Two... I'm not waving a fanboy flag and saying should had stuck with Sony, but it was Sony's playstation brand that bought console gaming to the masses. Didn't GTA3, GTA andreas and vice city bring profits to Take two?
There's no doubting that, had the GTA: IV Episodes From Liberty City been multi - platform it would have raked in much, MUCH more money then it did as a 360 exclusive. This was a bad decision on Rockstar's part and one i'm fairly certain they'll never make the mistake of making again. It's funny how 360 fanboys say PS3 games don't sell yet, when DLC for the biggest game of last year appears exclusively on THEIR console it causes one of the biggest publishers in the videogames industry to take huge losses.
