TimeGate Studios recently released new PC and Xbox 360 packshots for the upcoming first/third-person shooter, Section 8. The question on everyone’s mind, however, is what happened to the PS3 version of this game?
Just recently on Blend Games the suggestion was put forth that there were some financial hurdles impeding TimeGate Studios from completing the game for the PlayStation 3. While SouthPeak has yet to offer a definitive reason for the delayed announcement or status of the PlayStation 3 version of the game, it might be safe to assume that it could be undergoing the same technical and financial difficulties that prevented BioShock, Eternal Sonata and Splinter Cell: Conviction from being released as simultaneous, multiplatform titles.
Just recently, BioShock 2 and Batman: Arkham Asylum were on the receiving end of delays, both for reasons that fall in line with “polishing” up the game. While most developers/publishers have silently gone on and released the games at later dates for the PS3 (i.e., F.E.A.R, Alone In The Dark and Oblivion) Microids wasn’t playing into the silent but begrudging rulebook that most publishers have ascribed to in the press circuit. Instead, Microids publicly came out and admitted that finances and costs were hindering them from porting Syberia 3 over to the PS3.
An industry source has indicated that the delays for Section 8 on the PlayStation 3 are quite similar to the reasons that Syberia 3 is indefinitely delayed for the PS3: costs. While neither SouthPeak nor TimeGate have made any official announcements regarding the actual delays, the game is continuing forward with promotion, box art, trailers and screenshots all tailored for the PC and Xbox 360.
The likely case for Section 8 is that if the game manages to sell well for either PC or the Xbox 360, SouthPeak may be inclined to invest more resources into finishing up the development for the PS3 version of the game. Until then, all PS3 gamers can do is hope and wait.

cool so your saying splinter cell conviction is coming to ps3 then at some point? cool to see cause i read the creators say it was exclusive. good thing you set those guys streight.
U jocking right?
SC:Conviction never come to ps3...
Will Madden release NFL Head Coach 10 this year?
Well, in the statement about Conviction I was saying that the cost [in addition to the architecture] of developing the game for the PS3 prevented the Ubi team from making it a multiplatform title.
Later on they just decided to scrap the project for the PS3 altogether.
It's the same reason that Fallout 3 DLC for the PS3 has been delayed until later this year.
I am so sick and tired of multi-platform games being released for the ps3 later than the other consoles. This is really starting to bother me. Is it time to give up on Sony?
looks like a bunch of xbox fan boys in here, especially the author. it's funny what can be published in the internet these days...
well the game hasn't come out for ps3 yet...how are they spinning that one?
and please, you just happen to care enough to comment on perceived garbage. give me a break dumbass
Well, truth B known, PS3 IS a different beast from the Xbox360. Here's how I look @ it - making a PS3 game requires time and effort due to the power and complexity of the machine, which isn't really a bad thing as long as you have talented programmers programming 4 it (I know I don't feel the need to rush out and buy a game on its release date for $70 dollars!). To the poster how said something to the effect of "time to give up on Sony" well, enjoy your RROD because U just seemingly can't wait for a game that you HAVE to have it on the day it is dropped for BO-box (EW, it smells!) 360. LOLz
No PS3 cost is not delaying Section 8 stop your lies fanboy. I hate biased website go play your Xbox before dies again.
This idea of delaying PS3 versions of multiplatform games is all around terrible for everyone except Microsoft. It just upsets PS3 owner which lowers the amount of profits they can make on the PS3 version when it does come out, because by the time the game does come out on PS3, who really wants to pay full price for a game that has been out and talked about for months. It just seems old and if there is a good game that is new to all systems coming out, it will completely over shadow the game. Also you have to pay for marketing for 2 releases. The whole idea just seems dumb.
Reading articles like this really shows how the 360 should not be classified as a Next Gen console. How could it be if they are still developing games the exact same way that they did for PS2 and PC. Next Gen usually means not the same as the last gen. Guess all it takes to be next gen is playing a game in HD.
Yea, it shouldn't be called next gen even though all the multi-platform games look better on the 360. dumbass. developers are NOT going to spend all the extra time, labor, and costs just so a game can look a *little* better on the ps3. They just port it from the 360 and it will look almost as good.
