New gameplay trailers have surfaced on the net thanks to GameTrailers. The videos are in result of this year’s Penny Arcade eXpo, in which case Valve had their latest first-person zombie shooter up for display. The new trailers showcase a wide range of the game’s features, including melee, player reviving, some of the new weapons and a few new bad guys.
Left 4 Dead 2 still maintains the four-player cooperative function and large, zombie-filled maps with near arcade-esque gameplay. Players are tasked with escaping from various scenarios with specific objectives to complete. The main focus of the game is on blasting away zombies, so there’s no need to worry about completing statue puzzles or moving blocks around like in Capcom’s Resident Evil series.
The following two trailers consist of showcasing the game’s melee function and some standard-fare teamwork. For the most part the melee sees players decapitating or blasting enemies away with ease and a few new weapons are showcased as well. There isn’t much more to say about the trailers (or the game) that differs from last year’s first-person zombie shooter. Perhaps that’s why the Left 4 Dead 2 Boycott Group emerged.
