Following the arrival of BlazBlue: Continuum Shift, many fans have speculated a potential crossover between the BlazBlue and Guilty Gear franchise. While that dream has yet to manifest itself, another one has materialized in its place.
Tomo Ohno, Business Director for Arc System Works, has announced intentions for a next gen iteration of the popular Guilty Gear series for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 console.
"‘I have the full intention to create Guilty Gear for PS3 and 360.’", stated Daisuke Ishiwatari (creator of the Guilty Gear series) during the meeting.
Fans will be ecstatic to know that while Arc System Works has not announced intentions for creating a potential crossover between the two popular fighting games, they have not dismissed the idea for a future release down the road.
"BlazBlue is a new thing, and there might be some crossover but at the moment we don’t have any plans.”, stated Tomo Ohno.
With BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger on the eave of its European release as well as the rising popularity of BlazBlue: Continuum Shift in Japanese arcades, Arc System Works appears to be in working it's magic with fans and gamers alike. Only time will tell if 2010 will be another potentially great year for fighting games.
