Rockstar Games, in collaboration with Timbaland, have put together a piece of software called Beaterator, allowing PSP owners the chance to create their own music. And now, with the help of five thousand dollars, they're offering musicians the chance to prove Beaterator's music creation chops by letting them take a crack at it.
Hopeful participants are asked to fill out an official entry form. From that bank of participants, one hundred will be selected, and sent a PSP and a copy of Beaterator, along with enough instruction to use it to create a track. From that one hundred, all that submit a qualified track will be featured on a special website, where Myspace and IGN users will be given a chance to vote on the winner.
The winning artist will recieve the purse, as well as having their track featured on PSN, and the opportunity to be featured on Myspace. If Rockstar is this confident in their 'music software' game, perhaps fans of music games around will be in for a treat. The stereotypical pack art not-withstanding.
